Most moving advice online is written by somebody who has never carried a wardrobe down a staircase that turns at the landing. Ours isn't. These guides come from crews who shift homes across Bangalore every week, and they're the same things we'd tell a friend who asked.
There's no trick to a move going well. It's decluttering early so you're paying to shift less, booking before the month-end rush takes the good slots, sorting the society gate pass and the lift booking before the truck is at the gate rather than after, and packing the fragile things properly instead of quickly. Everything below is some version of one of those.
