Three days up NH48

Ahmedabad is about 1,500 kilometres from Bangalore, and the route runs up NH48 through the western ghats past Belagavi, on toward Pune and Mumbai, then north through Surat and Vadodara into Gujarat. For a loaded truck that's a three-day haul, sometimes into a fourth depending on where in Ahmedabad you're headed. Distance like that means the packing has to hold up over days of road, not hours, so everything's boxed, braced and dismantled where it needs to be.

Because so many of these moves are tied to a job, we plan backwards from your Ahmedabad date. Pickup in Bangalore, the gate pass and lift here, a dedicated truck loaded and sent straight up. Dedicated is the point when there's a joining date involved, a shared load can't commit to an arrival day and that's exactly what you can't afford to leave loose.

The truck runs the western corridor most of the way, the same road our Mumbai and Pune moves use, before carrying on north where they'd have peeled off. It's a well-travelled route for us, which helps on the timing.

Landing in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad's an easier city to move into than the crushed-lane metros. A lot of the newer housing sits out along SG Highway, in Satellite, Bopal, Prahlad Nagar and Gota, wide roads and organised apartment complexes with proper lifts and clear move-in rules. We book the lift slot and gate pass ahead the same as anywhere, so the truck arrives to a gate that's expecting it.

The old walled city is the exception, the pols and the lanes around them are tight and historic, and a full-size truck won't get into some of them. If that's where you're landing, tell us at the survey and we'll shuttle the last stretch on a smaller vehicle rather than strand the truck on a main road.

Summer's the other thing to plan around. Ahmedabad gets genuinely hot from April, so on those runs we keep candles, certain electronics and anything that can warp out of the parts of the truck that bake, and we'd usually suggest not timing a move for the peak of it if you've got the choice.

The car and bikes go in dedicated carriers rather than on the household truck, cars enclosed and two-wheelers wrapped and strapped upright, each with a photographed condition check at both ends. Over 1,500 kilometres the carrier and the goods truck won't always land the same hour, so we give you a realistic window for each rather than a single hopeful date.

What it costs

The price turns on how much you're moving, the packing you want, the access at both ends and whether vehicles or storage are in the mix, not on a per-kilometre rate off a chart. A move this size has too many parts for a phone quote to mean anything, so we survey first, on video or in person, and then put one figure in writing for the whole door-to-door job.

That number holds. What you sign off is what you pay when it's unloaded in Ahmedabad, itemised on a GST invoice, no re-weigh and no surprise line. Optional transit insurance covers the three-day haul if you'd like the cover, and for a full house going that far it's a sensible small addition.
