For anything crossing town, treat an early departure as non-negotiable. And if your date can move, a mid-month weekday will be cheaper and calmer than the last weekend of the month, when every lease on the corridor ends at once.

New blocks, old plots

In the apartment projects the routine is familiar. A gate pass with the truck registration, a service-lift slot booked ahead, often a refundable deposit against damage to the lift or lobby, and a set window of permitted hours. Where the project has only recently handed over you may be dealing with a site office rather than an association, and the lift may not even be commissioned yet, which quietly turns a lift job into a walk-up.

In the older housing there's none of that paperwork and considerably more carrying. Long carries from the door to wherever the truck can stand, narrow internal stairs, and everything large coming apart before it comes down. That's crew hours, which is most of what a local move costs.

We ask for a landmark and a live location at booking, and the crew rings from the main road rather than guessing their way in on your clock.
