A great many of the moves into them start somewhere on the other side of Bangalore, and the receiving end is where those days are won or lost. The truck has been on the road for a couple of hours by the time it reaches your new gate, and if the pass isn't ready or the lift isn't booked, that's the tired part of the day spent standing still.

So if you can, be at the new society an hour before the truck. Collect the gate pass, confirm the lift, find out where a goods vehicle is allowed to stand and whether the desk shuts for lunch.
