What actually goes into the packing

Ordinary buildings, ordinary flats, and the thing that separates a good move from a bad one in them is almost always the packing rather than anything clever.

So it's worth knowing what the materials actually are. Double-walled cartons for anything heavy, books and crockery especially, because the cheap single-wall ones give way at the bottom and always over a staircase. Bubble wrap for the fragile items, individually rather than in a bundle. Stretch film around the drawers of anything that opens. Corrugated sheets on the corners of wooden furniture, blankets over the polished surfaces. Nothing exotic, just enough of it.

All of that is included in the quote, which is worth checking when you compare prices, some operators quote the labour and then bill the cartons separately at the end. Ours is one figure with the materials in it.

If you'd like to pack some of it yourself, ask for the cartons a few days early and we'll drop them off. Just don't buy the flimsy ones from the local shop to save two hundred rupees, we've seen what they do to a set of dinner plates on the second floor.

One habit that saves you an evening at the other end: label the cartons you pack yourself with the room they're going to and one line about what's in them. The crew labels ours the same way, and a flat where every box says where it belongs unpacks in half the time of one where they all just say 'kitchen stuff'.

West-side timing and the academic calendar

The west side moves to its own traffic clock, and the roads out through Vijayanagar and toward the Outer Ring Road thicken at the office peaks. A shift heading across the city wants to be loaded and rolling before that, so we pack early and get the vehicle clear ahead of the crush, which keeps the day on carrying rather than idling at a junction.

For a local hop that stays in the west belt, over to Vijayanagar, Kengeri or RR Nagar, timing matters far less and the day's an easy one, short distances on decent roads.

One thing about Nagarbhavi that catches out movers who don't know it, the demand swings with the academic calendar. Term starts and ends push a wave of student and rented moves through the layout, and those weekends fill fast, so if you're shifting around then lock your slot a little earlier than you think you need to. Most of the settled family homes, by contrast, move whenever suits and have their pick of dates.

What a Nagarbhavi move costs

The city ranges apply, ₹4,000 to ₹9,000 for a 1 BHK, ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 for a 2 BHK, and ₹9,000 to ₹25,000 for a 3 BHK, shifting with the floor, the lift and how much packing you leave to us. A local move inside the west belt keeps you at the gentler end. The settled houses with a full load sit higher on volume, and a move right across the city climbs from there.

Access sets the number more than the map does. A lift-served flat empties fast, a walk-up with a stair carry and a longer haul to the truck needs more hands and more time, and that's the line you see on the bill. So we survey before quoting, on video or in person, put one figure in writing, and match it on the GST invoice at the end. No moving-day surprises added on.

Family homes, student moves and storage

Nagarbhavi's family homes are steady work, the settled houses where the packing care counts as much as the muscle. Senior crews, proper wrapping for the older furniture, disassembly and reassembly of the heavy units, and cartons dropped a few days ahead so you can pack the odd personal box at your own pace.

The student and PG side is the busier stream by count, light rooms shifting on weekends and around term dates, priced flat over a quick call. And when a lease runs out before the next place is ready, common enough with rented accommodation, we hold your things in inventoried storage and bring them out when you're set, the same crew tracking it from pickup to delivery.
