Bike Shifting in Mahadevapura

In the newer Mahadevapura towers the bike is never near the gate. It's two levels down, behind a row of cars, at the far end of a basement that serves several blocks, and the only way out is a long ramp with a sharp turn at the top. No carrier is going down there. The headroom is wrong, the turn is too tight, and the association wouldn't allow it if it fitted.

So the bike comes up to the vehicle, not the other way round. It's an easy job for a crew that's done it before, and a slightly fraught one for anyone who's trying to push a heavy motorcycle up a polished slope for the first time. Here's how we handle it, and what helps from your side.

Bringing a bike up from a deep basement

A running bike is the simplest case. With your permission one of the crew rides it up the ramp slowly, engine on, another walks beside it, and it's parked next to the carrier at the gate. That takes two minutes and nobody breaks a sweat.

If the bike won't start, or you'd rather it isn't ridden, it's walked up. On a long ramp that's a two-person job at least, one steering and braking, one pushing from behind, because a heavy motorcycle rolling backwards on a smooth floor is the one thing everyone wants to avoid. Polished basement floors get slippery after rain or a car wash, so we go slower on those.

Ramps with a speed breaker halfway, or a drainage channel at the bottom, need a little care with a low scooter or a bike with a long exhaust. The crew lifts the front over them rather than bumping across. Small thing, but it's where underbodies get scraped.

Tell us the basement level and, if you can, send a photo of the bike in its spot with a pillar number visible. Projects like Brigade Metropolis spread across several blocks, and two basements that look identical can be on opposite sides of the site.

Which block, which gate, which side of the project

A few Mahadevapura projects mix two kinds of home behind one gate. Purva Parkridge has flats and a separate row-house section, Arvind Expansia has apartments and a villa side. A row house usually has the bike in a porch, which is the easy version. A flat has it in the basement. So the first thing we ask is which part you're in.

The gate matters as much. Bigger projects often have one entrance meant for service vehicles, and that's where the carrier will wait. If your block is far from it, the walk from the top of the ramp to the carrier can be a few hundred metres along the internal road, which is fine, it's just worth knowing before the day.

Night-time is worth avoiding for a basement pickup. Lighting in some of the lower levels is poor after hours, and walking a heavy bike up a dim ramp is slower and less safe. Daylight slots, ideally early, are what we book here.

Most associations here want the bike's number and the pickup time logged with security in advance. Raise it a day or two ahead with the facility office.

Scooty and scooter shifting from a Mahadevapura tower

Scooters are much easier on a ramp, they're light, they balance well, and one person can walk most of them up without fuss. That's part of why moving a scooty usually costs a little less than a big motorcycle on the same route, along with the space it takes up on the vehicle.

At the top it gets the usual treatment. Pictures first, then padding on the mirrors and bars, a few layers of wrap, and straps holding it upright on the vehicle. Clear the seat storage before the crew arrives. Basement scooters tend to collect a spare helmet, a car parking card and whatever else didn't make it upstairs.

If your scooter is electric, tell us at booking so we know what we're collecting.

Bike and two wheeler transport out of Mahadevapura, and the timing

Most of the congestion here belongs to the roads next door. On weekdays the ORR between KR Puram and Marathahalli jams with the office commute twice a day, and around Phoenix Marketcity the weekend crowd builds from late morning. What's left free is early weekday mornings and Sunday before ten, and that's when we try to have the bike on the carrier.

Old Madras Road is minutes away, which makes Hyderabad and Chennai straightforward runs and keeps the carrier off the city's central roads. Kerala routes go often as well. For smaller towns the wait for a vehicle heading that way can stretch, and we'll say so before you book rather than after.

Leave the bike with very little fuel, it's drained before it's loaded. Give the crew a folder holding a photocopy of the RC and the owner's ID, and keep the originals in your own bag. If it's registered to someone else, a signed line from them goes in the folder too.

The rest of the flat

If the household is moving at the same time, the bike can be loaded with it and billed together. The Mahadevapura packers page has the detail on lift slots, the old layout lanes and office moves along the ORR.

FAQ

Bike and Scooty Shifting in Mahadevapura, answered

Mostly it comes down to the destination, then the bike. A short local move is a small job and an intercity one is larger. You get one firm written figure, with GST, after a free survey.

No, the ramps and headroom in Mahadevapura towers aren't built for it. The crew brings the bike up to the carrier at the gate.

Not at all, it's normal here. If it runs, it's ridden up slowly. If not, two people walk it up the ramp.

Only if you're happy with that. Otherwise it's walked up. Either way it's photographed before it's wrapped.

Yes, often. Scooters are easy to bring up a ramp and usually cost a little less to send than a heavier motorcycle.

It's easier. The bike is usually in the porch, so it's a short walk to the carrier rather than a basement ramp.

The carrier picks up Old Madras Road close by, so it reaches the highway without going through central Bangalore. Hyderabad and Chennai are frequent runs.

Yes. Kerala routes run often. A smaller town can mean a slightly longer wait for a carrier heading there.

Yes. Most Mahadevapura associations want the bike number and pickup time logged a day or two ahead.

Usually not if the bike is your daily ride, those are short trips. A carrier makes sense for a long cross-city delivery or a bike that isn't road-ready.

The crew lifts the front over breakers and drains rather than rolling across, especially on low scooters.

Before it's loaded. You'll know the date at booking, not a vague window afterwards.
