First moves, and the road into the city

A lot of what we move in Gottigere is people arriving, first move-ins into a new flat, often a first home of their own. Those come with their own small checklist, confirming a builder's move-in slot, padding a new lift, and sometimes shuttling with a smaller vehicle where the last stretch of road isn't finished. We do plenty of them, and they go smoothly when the access is checked ahead of time.

The honest bit is the distance. Gottigere sits at the far end of Bannerghatta Road, and BG Road is slow through most of the day, so a move up toward JP Nagar, the centre or beyond is a longer, slower run than the map suggests. We load early and plan the day around it rather than discovering the crawl halfway through.

For a shift staying local, over to Hulimavu, Kalena Agrahara or Arekere, it's a gentler day, short distances once you're past the main-road timing.

Check the power and the water before the truck comes

The gated projects we're booked into here are Arvind Skycrest, Valmark Amoda, GRC Sapphire Spring and Vedant Suraksha Courtyard, with GR Regent Park, Hexa Skyline, Pruthvi Royal, Srivari Gracious, Sumukha Brindavan, Pariwar Pragathi and Eapl Sri Sai Supreme making up the mid-segment side. A lot of the moves into them are first move-ins, and first move-ins have a failure mode that has nothing to do with furniture.

You arrive and the flat has no power in your name, or no water that day. Out on this edge of the city a good few buildings still lean on tankers when the supply is short, and a tanker that isn't booked doesn't turn up because you've moved in. The electricity connection is the same story, the meter may be in the builder's name until you get it changed over, and that isn't something to discover at seven in the evening with the fridge plugged into nothing.

So ask the project office two questions in the week before: is the flat's power live in my name, and what's the water arrangement on a normal day. Neither takes long to sort in advance and both are miserable to sort afterwards.

One more thing that's specific to a building still filling up. If yours has only a handful of families in it so far, the service lift may not be switched on for general use yet, and somebody has to unlock it. Find out who that person is and whether they work Sundays, because in a half-occupied block the answer is often no.
