Bike Shifting in Arekere
A lot of the bikes leaving Arekere aren't following their owners. They're going to someone else. A son's bike sent to parents after he moves abroad, a scooter going to a sister in Chennai, a motorcycle passed on to a cousin in Kerala. The owner stays in the flat off Bannerghatta Road, and someone at the far end has to take delivery.

That person matters more than people expect. They'll be the one checking the bike, signing for it and dealing with anything that looks wrong. A few minutes briefing them makes the difference between a calm handover and a confused phone call.
Choosing who receives it
Pick someone who'll actually be there on the day, at the address you've given. It sounds obvious, but a surprising number of deliveries get rearranged because the person named was at a wedding two towns away. A parent who's at home most days is ideal. A busy cousin who might be at work is less so, unless someone else at the house can step in.
They should be comfortable looking a bike over and saying if something isn't right. It doesn't need an expert, just someone willing to walk round it slowly and not sign until they're happy.
Older parents in particular can find the whole thing a bit much, a big vehicle, a crew they don't know, papers to sign. If you can, be on a video call with them while the bike is unloaded. You can look at it through their phone and tell them what to check, and they'll feel a lot less on their own with it.
Give us their name and phone number at booking, and tell them we'll call. A delivery crew ringing an unknown number from a carrier is often ignored.
Where the road outside is too tight for a carrier, which is common in older town centres, the bike comes off on the nearest main road. The receiver should be ready to meet it there and wheel or ride it home.
What to send them before the bike arrives
The pickup photos, first of all. The crew photographs the bike from every side at your gate in Arekere before wrapping it, and those photos are what the receiver compares the bike against. Forward them the same day.
A short message explaining what to do helps, written down rather than said on a hurried call, so they can read it again when the carrier turns up. Look the bike over against the photos, check the mirrors, tank, panels and lights, squeeze the brakes, then sign. If anything new turns up, point it out, write it on the delivery papers before signing and photograph it.
Tell them the tank will be empty, since fuel is drained before loading. A small can of petrol saves them pushing it to the pump.
And if the bike isn't registered to the person receiving it, they should keep the papers you send with it safe. You'll need to sort out insurance and, if it's a permanent move, the ownership with the transport department later.
Collection from an Arekere complex
Most of Arekere is mid-rise and high-rise complexes, many of them home to the same families for years, with visitor bays that are tight and often full by mid-morning. Carriers don't go into basements, so the bike is brought up to the gate. We'll ask the society for a standing spot in advance.
Some Arekere societies want dues settled or a clearance note before anything leaves. That's usually for households, but a bike leaving on another vehicle can get questioned too. Tell security a day ahead.
Bannerghatta Road is slow most of the day. An early pickup gets the carrier moving before the worst of it.
Scooty shifting to family
Scooters are the bikes most often passed on in families, to a parent who's taken up riding again or a younger sibling starting college. In those cases the receiver is also the new rider, so brief them a little more. Where the papers are kept, when the insurance renews, which key is the spare.
Check the insurance has some months left before the scooter leaves Arekere. Renewing from here, while you still have the policy details to hand, is simpler than a relative trying to do it from the other end with half the information.
Once it's been photographed at the gate, a scooty is protected just as a motorcycle would be, cushioned at the bar ends and mirror stems, wrapped in layers, strapped upright. It weighs less, so it usually costs a little less.
Empty the seat box before the day. A helmet you mean to send along is better off in someone's luggage than hooked on the bike.
Bike and two wheeler transport from Arekere
Chennai and Hyderabad have vehicles leaving often, and the Kerala cities get regular runs. A small town further from the main routes can mean the bike waits until something's going there, and you'll hear that at the quote. You'll have an agreed delivery day before loading, which you can pass straight on to the person receiving it.
Within Bangalore, to Bilekahalli, Hulimavu or JP Nagar, it's done in a day, and plenty of Arekere bikes go no further than a relative across the city.
The crew carries photocopies of the RC and your ID card, plus a short note signed by you if the bike is being received by someone whose name isn't on the registration. We look the bike over first, free, by video or at the gate, and the price we write down is the price on the GST invoice. And if it's your whole flat moving rather than just the bike, have a look at our Arekere packers page.
