Bike Shifting in Munnekollal
Munnekollal runs on a monthly clock. The PGs and rented floors behind Marathahalli turn over on the last day of the month, joining dates cluster on the first Monday after it, and for about three days the lanes fill with tempos, suitcases on the pavement and people trying to get a bike collected on exactly the same Saturday morning as everyone else in the building.

None of that is a problem if you book a week or so ahead. It becomes one when you ring on the Thursday. Here's how the month end actually plays out for bikes in Munnekollal, and how to stay out of the worst of it.
Why the last weekend of the month fills up
Most leases here run calendar month to calendar month. Notice periods line up with them. Offer letters tend to say the first of the month. Put those together and a large share of Munnekollal's tenants want to be out on the 30th or 31st, which, if it falls near a weekend, gives you a lot of people chasing the same two mornings.
Our crews are around Marathahalli most days, so we can usually fit people in, but the early slots, the ones before the ORR jams, go first. Book once your last day is fixed, even if it's three weeks away. Moving a booking is easy. Finding a seven o'clock slot on the 30th at two days' notice is not.
Festival months add a second wave. When a big holiday falls near the end of the month, people travelling home stack up with people moving out, and the early slots disappear even faster. If your last day lands in one of those weeks, book earlier than you think you need to.
If your dates allow, the middle of the month is calmer in every way. Quieter lanes, easier parking, and you aren't competing with the building next door for kerb space.
Getting a bike out of a crowded month-end lane
Munnekollal's inner lanes are narrow on an ordinary day, parked both sides and one-way in stretches. At month end they also have tempos loading furniture, cabs dropping people with luggage, and a handful of bikes being wheeled out at once. A carrier doesn't stand a chance in there, so it waits on a main road towards the ORR side and the crew walks your bike out.
That walk is easier at seven than at ten. Everyone who booked late ends up with the mid-morning slot, which is exactly when the lanes are busiest and the Marathahalli bridge is at its slowest.
Plenty of people here leave their room a day or two before the bike goes, staying with a friend in the meantime. That works fine. Leave the key with a flatmate or the warden, tell us their name, and the crew collects it from them. The pickup photos come to your phone.
Tell your PG warden which morning the bike's going. On a busy weekend they're juggling several departures and a heads-up helps.
Scooty shifting at the end of a lease
In Munnekollal's PGs the bike is very often a gearless scooty, cheap to run and easy to park in the gaps. It goes on our vehicle the same way a motorcycle would, wrapped with the mirrors and bars padded and strapped upright, and it's normally the cheaper of the two to send because it weighs less and takes up less space.
Month-end scooters tend to be full. Laundry bags, a spare helmet, chargers, the stuff that didn't fit in the suitcase. Clear the boot completely before the crew arrives, it'll only be handed back to you at the other end anyway.
And run the tank down over your last week. The petrol is taken out before loading, so the last fill-up should be a small one.
Bike and two wheeler transport out of Munnekollal
Many month-end bikes are leaving Bangalore with their owners, to Hyderabad, Chennai or home. From Munnekollal the carrier heads for Old Madras Road through KR Puram, past the ORR, and is on the highway without going through the city. Those two cities go out often, and Kerala routes are regular too, though smaller towns get fewer departures and we'll say so when we quote.
Your delivery day is agreed before the bike goes on, which is useful when your joining date is the first Monday. If the bike needs to be there by then, say so at booking and we'll tell you straight whether that's realistic.
A small tip for month-end joiners. If you arrive in the new city a few days before the bike, use them to sort parking at your new place, especially in a PG or shared flat. It's much easier to ask about a spot before a wrapped motorcycle is standing at the gate.
For the journey, slip copies of the RC and your ID into a folder for the crew, keep the originals in your bag, and if the bike is registered to a parent, add their signed note.
