Damage happens in the packing, not the driving

People picture the truck when they worry about their things getting broken. In practice almost nothing breaks because of the road. It breaks because a plate was packed against a pan with a sheet of newspaper between them, or a television travelled flat under something heavier, or a mirror was wrapped in a bedsheet and stood against a wardrobe that shifted.

That's why packing is the part of the job we're slowest and fussiest about, and it's the part cheap quotes cut first because it's invisible until it isn't. A crew that packs a full kitchen in forty minutes has not done it properly. There's no version of that work that's quick.

So we'd rather take the extra hour and hand you a carton that arrives with everything in it intact.

The other half of it is loading order, which nobody thinks about until something is crushed. Weight goes low and flat, soft goods fill the voids so nothing has room to travel, and the marked fragile cartons ride on top with nothing stacked on them. A truck packed properly is packed tight, because things that cannot move cannot break. A truck packed in a hurry has gaps in it, and every gap is somewhere a carton slides into on the first hard brake.

What actually goes on the truck

Materials come with the crew and they're in the quote rather than billed afterwards. Corrugated cartons in a few sizes, bubble wrap, foam sheets, stretch film, furniture blankets and waterproof outer covers. We don't ration any of it, which sounds like a small thing and is the difference between a plate wrapped once and a plate wrapped properly.

Crockery, glassware, mirrors and framed pictures go into padded cartons of their own rather than being tucked into the gaps around heavier things. Those cartons get marked so they're handled and stacked correctly, and they don't go on the bottom of anything.

Televisions and monitors get corner protection and their original boxes where you've kept them. Where you haven't, we cut double-walled cartons to size, which is genuinely better than the alternative of wrapping a screen in a duvet and hoping.

Furniture that has to come apart

Wardrobes, beds, dining tables and modular units come apart before they leave the room and go back together at the new place, done by the same crew that dismantled them rather than handed to whoever is around at the other end. That continuity matters more than it sounds like it should.

Fittings are bagged and taped to the piece they came off. It's a small discipline and it's the single most common thing that goes wrong when a move is rushed, because a bed frame with its bolts in somebody's pocket is not a bed, it's a problem for your first evening.

Anything that genuinely won't clear a doorway or a staircase turn gets identified at survey rather than discovered wedged in a frame with a crew on either side of it. That's what the survey is for.

What packing costs, and what happens if it goes wrong

Packing is part of the quote, not a surcharge. Local moves in Bangalore run roughly ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 for a single room, ₹4,000 to ₹9,000 for a 1 BHK, ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 for a 2 BHK and ₹9,000 to ₹25,000 for a 3 BHK, and how much packing you hand over is one of the four things that decides where in that band you land.

If money is tight, the sensible split is to pack the non-fragile things yourself, clothes and books and linen, and hand us the kitchen, the glassware and the electronics. That's where the risk is concentrated and it's the part worth paying for.

And if something does get damaged, there's a name and a number that answers. Damage is assessed against the inventory signed at pickup, and where you've taken transit insurance the claim runs through that. We'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend nothing ever goes wrong on a moving day.
