Moving around a joining date
Most jobs here are tied to a date somebody else set. A start date at a new employer, a notice period ending, a lease expiring on the last of the month. That means the move is rarely flexible, and it means everybody else in the same building is trying to move on the same handful of days.
So book earlier than feels necessary. A week's notice gets you a better slot than three days, and month-end here is genuinely congested because leases turn over together. If you have any latitude at all, a mid-month weekday is cheaper and calmer, and the crew isn't on their third flat of the day.
For a move that has to happen on a fixed date, tell us that at booking rather than hoping. We'd rather plan the day properly around a hard deadline than discover one halfway through.
Flats, lifts and the association
The apartment stock around here is newer than most of the city and the practicalities follow from that. Most buildings have a service lift, which shortens the carry enormously, but there is usually one of them per tower and it's shared with every delivery and contractor in the building. It goes to whoever booked first.
Beyond the lift it's the usual society admin: a gate pass carrying the vehicle registration, sometimes a refundable deposit held against damage to the lift car or the lobby floor, and a window of hours in which moves are permitted. None of it is difficult, it just has to be arranged before the day rather than negotiated at the security desk with a loaded truck behind you.

The highway, and getting a vehicle in
NH-66 runs past, which is genuinely useful. A truck reaches this side of the city without threading through the old town, and anything leaving Thiruvananthapuram gets on the highway quickly. Inside the residential pockets the roads are mostly newer and wide enough for a proper vehicle to reach the gate.
Where it gets tighter is the older settlement that predates all the building, and the newer projects where the approach road is still catching up with the towers on it. After a wet week the surface on some of those is poor enough that we'd rather not put a loaded truck on it, in which case a smaller vehicle shuttles and that's priced at survey.
Traffic on the highway stretch thickens at the office peaks in a way that's familiar to anyone who has moved in a tech corridor anywhere. We load early for the same reason we do everywhere else.
What a Kazhakkoottam move costs
Local household moves fall in the ranges below: roughly ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 for a single room or a bachelor load, ₹4,000 to ₹9,000 for a 1 BHK, ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 for a 2 BHK and ₹9,000 to ₹25,000 for a 3 BHK. A lot of the work here is at the smaller end, and it's priced accordingly rather than being handed a truck it doesn't need.
Volume sets the vehicle and the crew, then lift access, then how much of the packing you hand over. Because the stock is fairly uniform, a job here is more predictable to price than one in the old city, but the figure still comes after a free video survey and it doesn't move afterwards.
