Bike Shifting in Immadihalli

Immadihalli grew plot by plot, and a lot of the independent houses here belong to people who don't always live in them. Somebody built the house, went abroad or took a job in another city, and the bike stayed behind in the compound under a cover that the sun has long since bleached. Months later, sometimes a couple of years later, the family decides it should go where the owner is.

By then the tyres are soft or flat, the battery is dead and nobody quite knows when it last ran. That's fine. A bike doesn't need to start to be moved, it needs to roll, and even that can be managed. What helps is knowing what state it's in before the crew arrives, so they come with the right number of people.

What a long-parked bike needs before it travels

Not much, honestly. We don't need it running. If the tyres are completely flat, pumping them up enough to roll is the one thing that makes a real difference, a neighbour's foot pump or a quick visit from a puncture shop does it. If they won't hold air, the crew can still move it, just more slowly and with more hands.

Take a few photos and send them when you book. The cover off, the tyres, the side panels, any rust on the chain. It tells us how many people to send and it gives you your own record of how it looked before anyone touched it.

One more check while the cover's off. Look for anything living in it. A bike that's stood under a cover in a garden compound for a season can host a wasp nest under the seat or a rat's nest in the air box, and the crew would much rather know before they start lifting panels.

Please don't try to get it running the night before by pouring in fresh petrol. The tank is emptied before loading regardless, and old fuel mixed with new doesn't help the bike either. Leave the mechanic visit for the other end, where someone will actually be riding it. A good mechanic there will want to change the oil, check the brakes and look at the tyres properly anyway, so any money spent here is spent twice.

Out of the compound and onto the vehicle

Most plotted-layout houses in Immadihalli have a gate the bike fits through easily, the question is the lane outside. Some are wide enough for a carrier to stop at the gate, which makes this a five-minute job. Others are tight, unfinished, or soft after rain, and there the carrier waits on a wider road and the bike is pushed to it.

A bike that won't start is pushed, not ridden, which is why the distance to the carrier matters more than usual. We'll ask you to show us the lane on a video call. If it's a long push on a rough road, we plan for it rather than discover it.

On the vehicle a non-runner is loaded with a ramp and extra hands, then strapped and wrapped like any other bike. The condition photos are taken before wrapping and shared with whoever booked, which matters when the owner is in another city and has been imagining the bike in better shape than it is.

Old scooty and scooter shifting from a family house

The parked bike is very often a scooter, a parent's or the one the owner used before they moved away. Scooters sit worse than motorcycles in some ways. The boot can trap damp, and the floor panel hides rust you can't see until it's lifted. Have a look under the seat before collection and take out anything that's in there, it's usually papers, and they're usually soggy.

Beyond that it's handled like a motorcycle, the handlebar and mirrors padded, layers of wrap round the body, upright and strapped in its own place, and the lighter weight usually takes a little off the price.

Bike and two wheeler transport from Immadihalli to the owner

Where the bike goes is usually wherever the owner moved. Chennai and Hyderabad are frequent runs, Kerala routes go often, and from Immadihalli the carrier joins the highway through Whitefield and Hoskote rather than crossing Bangalore. Smaller towns can take longer to fill a vehicle, and we'll be straight about that.

Paperwork is where long-parked bikes catch people out. Check the insurance before anything else. A policy that lapsed while the bike sat in the compound is the owner's to renew before it goes on the road again, and it's better done before the move than discovered at the other end. Send a photocopy of the RC and the owner's ID with the bike, plus a signed line from the owner naming whoever is handing it over.

You'll know the cost in advance, one figure in writing on GST once we've seen the photos, and the delivery date is fixed before the bike is loaded.

If the house itself is being cleared

When the family is emptying or letting the house at the same time, the bike can share that vehicle and that invoice. Our Immadihalli packers page deals with the house, the stair carries and the plot-road access.

Don't add fresh petrolIt's drained before loading anyway, and fresh fuel on top of stale doesn't help an old engine.
FAQ

Bike and Scooty Shifting in Immadihalli, answered

A non-runner needs a few more hands at loading, which we price in at the survey. Destination still drives most of the cost. Send photos and the destination and we'll give you one written figure on GST.

Yes. It just needs to roll. If the tyres are flat, pumping them up helps, but the crew can manage without.

Yes. Quite a few of the long-parked bikes here turn out to be scooters, and they travel the way any bike does, usually for a bit less.

Any family member or neighbour the owner names in a short signed note. Their name and number go on the booking, and the photos go to the owner too.

Both, regularly. The vehicle leaves Bangalore through Whitefield and Hoskote, and we commit to the arrival day before the bike goes on.

It can. The Kerala routes are frequent, though a small town at the far end may need a slightly longer wait for a carrier.

Renew it before the move if you can. It protects the owner once the bike is back on the road, and it's simpler than sorting it after delivery.

If the lane is wide and firm enough, yes. If not, it waits on the nearest wider road and the bike is pushed to it.

Better at the destination, where it'll be ridden. For the move it only needs to roll.

Yes, it's photographed before wrapping and again at delivery, and the photos are shared with whoever booked.
