Bike Transport Services in Basapura

Basapura sits on the stretch of Hosur Road between Hosa Road and Electronic City, and like most of this corridor it's full of people who came for work. Many of them bought a bike, used it for a while, then switched to a cab, the metro or an office shuttle. The bike stayed in the parking, and nobody has started it since.

Months later, someone decides it should go home to the family, or to the new city. That's perfectly possible. A bike doesn't have to run to be transported. But a bike that has been standing a long time needs a little more planning than one that's ridden to the carrier.

A bike that won't start can still travel

The carrier doesn't care whether the engine runs. The bike is wheeled to it, lifted on, wrapped and strapped upright like any other. What matters is whether it can roll: whether the wheels turn, the brakes release and the handlebar unlocks.

So before booking, go down to the parking with the key and try. Unlock the steering. Push the bike forward a metre. If the wheels turn freely, you're fine. If a tyre is completely flat, the bike can still be moved, but tell us, because pushing it any distance on a flat damages the rim.

If the chain has rusted stiff or the rear brake has seized, the bike may not roll at all. That's still movable, with more hands to lift it, so mention it at booking and the crew will come prepared.

Lost the key? Then we can't move it. The steering lock holds the front wheel at an angle, and the bike can't be wheeled or strapped properly. Find the spare, or get a new key made by a locksmith or the dealer before the pickup.

What to tell us at booking

Be honest about the state of the bike. Say how long it's been standing, whether the tyres hold air, whether it starts, and where exactly it's parked. A video of the bike in its spot is ideal, and it can double as the free survey.

Parking location matters more for a dead bike. One that's wedged at the back of a basement, behind three cars and a pillar, has to be pushed up a ramp to a carrier that can't come down. Tell us which level and how steep the ramp is.

If it's in a building's basement, ask the guard which ramp is used for moving vehicles and whether the lift can take a bike if the ramp is too steep. Some Basapura buildings have only one route out, and it's useful to know it in advance.

The quote stays the same for a bike that doesn't start. A bike that has to be lifted rather than pushed may need an extra pair of hands, and if so, that's included in the written figure before you agree to it.

Getting it ready for the next rider

Whatever has gone wrong from standing still, it's cheaper to fix in Bangalore if you're near a mechanic you trust. A new battery, two tyres and a chain cleaning is a short job and it means the bike arrives ready to ride.

If you'd rather fix it at the other end, that's fine too. But warn whoever receives it that the bike won't start, so they don't think it was damaged in transit. Send them the pickup photos and a note of what's wrong.

A forgotten bike usually has forgotten papers. Expect the insurance to have run out and the PUC slip to be stale. We'll still carry it, but nobody can legally ride it until both are renewed, and an insurer may want to see a long-lapsed bike in person first.

And drain whatever old fuel you can. Petrol that has sat in a tank for months goes stale, and the crew drains the tank before loading anyway. Starting fresh at the other end is better for the engine.

Scooty shifting from Basapura

The scooter is very often the abandoned one: the first thing people stop riding when a company shuttle turns up. A dead scooter is easy for two crew members to lift, and costs less to move than a motorcycle.

A scooter's battery goes flat faster than a motorcycle's, and many won't kick-start easily after months of rest. That's normal. Let the receiver know it may need a new battery before it runs.

Open the seat box before the day. Months of standing can leave a mouldy rain jacket or a forgotten bag of groceries in there, and nobody wants to discover that in another city.

If the scooter has been under a cover, take the cover off on pickup day so the crew can photograph the bodywork properly. Pack the cover separately if you want to keep it.

Bike transport from Basapura to other cities

From Basapura, Hosur is next door and Chennai a straightforward run south. Long-standing bikes heading to family homes go everywhere; the common cities move quickly, while a remote town can mean waiting for the right truck. We'll tell you which, and the date, when we quote.

Photocopies of the registration and of the owner's ID go with the dead bike, plus the owner's signed permission if a friend is releasing it. Originals stay with the owner. The look at the bike is free and the quote, GST included, is fixed once written. Moving a household from around here? See the Hosa Road packers page.

If the bike has been standing because the owner already left Bangalore, someone else will be handing it over. That's common in Basapura, where a flatmate or a landlord ends up minding a bike for months. Give them the key and a signed note from the owner, and ask them to send the owner the pickup photos.

At the far end, plan a little time for the bike to come back to life. A new battery, air in the tyres and fresh fuel are usually all it needs, and a mechanic near the receiver can do that within an afternoon.
