Bike Shifting in Sarjapur

A lot of families moving out to Sarjapur do it in two goes. The furniture arrives first, on the day the new home is handed over, and the bike stays behind at the old flat in the city because someone still needs it there, to finish a notice period, to keep riding to an ORR office, or because nobody wanted to ride it out on the same morning the truck was going.

Then it has to follow. That second trip is what this page is about. It's small next to the household move, but Sarjapur town is a long way from most of the places the bike is coming from, and the last stretch into a new layout isn't always kind to a two-wheeler.

Why the bike so often comes later

It usually comes down to who needs it and when. The new home is a long drive from the city, and in the weeks around a move one person in the family is often still going in to the old office, sleeping at the old flat on weeknights, or waiting to hand the keys back to a landlord who wants to see the place empty. The bike is how they get around while all that happens.

There's a practical reason as well. On the day of the household move the crew, the truck and your attention are all on the furniture. Adding a bike to that load is easy and we do it often, but plenty of people would rather keep it for the last few days in the city than be stranded without one.

So the household goes first. The bike follows on its own.

Our one suggestion is to plan the second trip when you plan the first. Book both together and the bike's collection date is fixed from the start, it's in the same quote, and you aren't hunting for a slot in the middle of unpacking.

From the old flat out to a new layout

The collection end is wherever you were living before, often a tower on the ORR, a PG in Koramangala or HSR, or a rented floor somewhere closer in. The bike comes up from the basement or out from under the stilt to wherever the carrier can stand, and it's photographed before any wrapping goes on.

The delivery end is the harder half. Sarjapur town is still filling in and the approach roads to some of the newer layouts and plotted developments are unpaved in places, or dug up for pipes and cables. A carrier that's comfortable on the main road may not want the final stretch. Where that's the case it stops on firm ground and the bike is ridden or wheeled the rest of the way, which on a muddy morning is slower than anyone would like.

In the bigger gated communities and the township the internal roads are wide and properly finished, and the carrier usually gets close to your block.

We'd also rather deliver in daylight. Some newer layouts out here don't have street lights on every road yet, and checking a bike's condition under a phone torch isn't how you want to see it for the first time at the new place.

Letting the new society know it's coming

In a brand-new project you're often among the first residents in your block and the security team is still working out its routines. A bike turning up on a carrier a fortnight after your furniture can confuse them. Tell the gate which day it's arriving, give them the registration number and the name of whoever will be home to receive it.

If parking hasn't been allotted yet, ask the facility office where residents are keeping two-wheelers in the meantime. Some new buildings use a temporary area near the entrance until allotment is done, and it's far better to know that before the bike arrives than to have the crew standing at the gate asking.

Someone does need to be there. If you're still in the city on the day, a family member at the new home is fine, the delivery photos come to your phone so you can compare them with the ones taken at pickup.

Scooty shifting out to Sarjapur

A scooty is the bike families most often leave behind, because it's the one doing the short city trips to the market or the metro and it's the one somebody misses first. On the carrier it gets the full motorcycle treatment, cushioning on the bars and mirror stems, layers of wrap, straps holding it standing, and since it weighs less, the bill for it tends to be a bit smaller.

Light scooters cope with a rough last stretch better than people expect. They're easy to wheel over a rutted patch, though the crew still picks the line with care, since mud packed into a scooter's footboard is a nuisance to get out.

Empty the under-seat storage before collection. Years of being someone's daily runabout leaves old rain covers, a spare helmet liner and a small archive of parking slips in there.

Bike and two wheeler transport if Sarjapur isn't the last stop

Now and then the bike goes further. A posting comes through, or the family decides the second bike is more use with a relative in another city. From here the carrier usually heads in through Dommasandra towards the ORR and then out onto the highway, so an early start matters, the road in carries heavy traffic and roadworks in stretches.

Chennai and Hyderabad run often and the Kerala routes are regular. If home is a smaller town the wait for a vehicle heading there can be longer, and we'll say that when we quote. The delivery date is committed before the bike is loaded.

For any trip, run the tank low because it's drained before loading, take off anything loose that's bolted on, and keep copies of the RC and your ID for the crew. You'll have the price on paper, GST included, once we've done a free survey. If the household still has to come out as well, the Sarjapur packers page covers that move.

FAQ

Bike and Scooty Shifting in Sarjapur, answered

Mostly it depends on where the bike is coming from, since Sarjapur town is a long run from the inner parts of Bangalore. A rough final stretch can add a little handling. We survey free, on video or in person, and give one firm figure in writing with GST.

Yes, as one line in the household quote. Many families still prefer to keep it in the city a little longer and send it on its own.

Whenever it suits you, most people pick the weekend after they've handed back the old flat. Book the date with the household move and it's fixed from the start.

Yes. A scooty is wrapped and strapped upright like any bike and usually costs a little less to send.

Often it can. Where it can't, it stops on firm ground and the bike is wheeled or ridden the last part of the way.

Anyone you name. A relative or a neighbour at the new home can take it, and the delivery photos are sent to you so nothing depends on being there yourself.

Ask the facility office before the delivery day. Many new projects have a temporary two-wheeler area until allotment is done.

If it's your daily bike and the ride doesn't bother you, ride it, that's a perfectly sensible choice. Sending it makes more sense when nobody's free to ride it out, or the person who rides it is still working in the city.

Yes, Hyderabad runs often. The carrier heads in towards the ORR first, so an early pickup helps it get clear before the traffic builds.

A photocopy of the RC and one of the owner's ID card go with the bike. The originals stay in your hands.

Yes. Our warehouse and storage service can hold it until the new home is ready, and then it's delivered like any other trip.
