Bike Shifting in Banashankari 6th Stage

A short run with an easy start

From 6th Stage, the NICE Road and Kanakapura Road junction put the carrier on the way south-west without going near the centre. That means a collection here doesn't need the crack-of-dawn start that a bike leaving the ORR side would. An early pickup is still sensible, to clear the local roads before they fill around the junction, but the pressure is lower.

Mysuru itself is a short run as intercity trips go, which makes it one of the simpler bike transport jobs we do from the south-west.

Plenty of families also go the other way, bringing a bike from Mysuru up to 6th Stage when a son or daughter starts work in Bangalore. The same NICE Road access works in reverse, and the delivery to a 6th Stage gate is quick once the carrier is off the highway. Smaller towns beyond it, Mandya, Srirangapatna, Hunsur, or places further towards the hills, can take longer, because a carrier has to be heading that way. We'll tell you honestly at the quote, and either way you get a firm arrival date before anything is strapped down.

Because the bike is staying in Karnataka, its registration doesn't change. If you're settling at a new address, updating the address on the RC is a separate step with the transport department, done once you're there.

The address at the Mysuru end

Mysuru's newer layouts are well laid out and easy to deliver to, with wide roads and numbered houses not unlike 6th Stage itself. The older parts of the city, around the market and the palace, have narrower streets where a carrier may not get to the door. Ask the person receiving it to send the complete address with pin code, a landmark the locals would recognise, and a location pin taken standing at their gate.

If the street is narrow, tell us which wider road the carrier can use, and have the receiver wait there for it.

If it's going to a village outside the city, the same applies with more emphasis. The more precise the address and the landmark, the smoother the last part goes.

The person receiving should have the pickup photos on their phone before the carrier arrives, so they can check the bike properly before signing.

Getting out of 6th Stage

6th Stage is a mix of large, well-planned BDA blocks and pockets where the roads are still catching up. On the wider main roads the carrier stands at the gate. In the developing pockets, where a road is unpaved, steep or narrow, it waits somewhere solid and the bike is ridden or wheeled out to it.

Houses here often have room in front for a bike, which helps. If yours is kept inside a compound behind a gate, clear the way and leave the gate open for the crew.

A few streets near construction sites can be dusty or churned up. If yours is one of them, wipe the bike down the evening before, so the condition photos show it properly.

Families here are often building or finishing a house at the same time, and the bike sometimes lives at the site rather than at home. If that's the case, tell us which address it's actually at. Collecting from a half-built house is fine, as long as the gate is open and someone with the papers is there.

And if you're moving to Mysuru but keeping the 6th Stage house, decide whether a second bike stays behind. It's easy to send both by mistake, or neither.

Scooty shifting to Mysuru

Scooters make this trip all the time, often going to a parent in Mysuru who uses one for the market and the temple, or to a student starting college there who needs something for the short daily trips across the city. On the carrier a scooty is handled just like a motorcycle, its condition photographed before wrapping, the bars and mirror stems cushioned, wrap on in layers and straps holding it upright. It's lighter, so it usually costs a bit less to send.

If the person receiving it will ride it, check that the insurance is current and covers them, and leave the papers where they'll find them.

Clear the seat box before pickup and pack anything in it with your own things.

Bike and two wheeler transport beyond Mysuru

Not everything goes to Mysuru. The same easy start helps for Tamil Nadu by the southern routes, and the regular runs to Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala go from here as well. Within Bangalore, to Uttarahalli, Kanakapura Road or across the city, it's a same-day job, though a run into the centre or the north is long from this edge.

Bring the fuel down in the days before, since the tank is drained before the bike is loaded. The paperwork that rides along is a photocopied RC and ID card.
