Bike Shifting in Electronic City Phase 1
Electronic City Phase 1 sends a lot of people away on long assignments. A year at a client site in another city, a stint abroad, a project that kept someone in Pune or Chennai far longer than planned. The flat gets given up, and the bike goes somewhere safe, usually to a parent's house or a sibling's garage, sometimes to wherever the posting was.

Put in the two addresses and the size of the home. You get a worked-out range on screen, itemised the same way the final quote will be — and nobody rings you for it.

InstantWhere are you moving?
Costs you nothing and there's no salesperson at the end of it.
Then the posting ends and you're back at a desk on one of the big campuses here, often in a different township from the one you left, because the old flat went to someone else long ago. The bike has to come back too. After a long rest it needs a little more attention than a bike that was ridden last week, and a township society will want to know it's arriving.
A bike that's been resting a while
Bikes left at a parent's house for a year or more tend to spend that time under a cover in a corner of the compound, started now and then by a well-meaning uncle or not at all. Before it travels, ask someone at that end to take a look, ideally a few days ahead so there's time to fix anything simple. Are the tyres holding air? Does the battery still turn the engine over? Does it roll freely, or has a brake started to stick?
None of that stops it being moved. We don't need a bike that starts, just one that rolls and steers, but knowing in advance means the crew at the pickup end comes ready to push rather than ride.
Check the papers while you're at it. Insurance is the one that most often lapses during a long posting, because the renewal reminder went to a phone number or email nobody was watching. Renew it before the bike reaches Bangalore, so you can ride it on the first day back.
And the pollution certificate, if it's expired, can wait until the bike is here. That's a quick visit to a testing centre once it's running again.
Collection from wherever it's been
Usually someone else hands the bike over, since you're already back in Bangalore or still finishing the posting. That's fine. Whoever is at that end needs the key, a photocopy of the RC and of your ID, and, if they aren't you, a short signed note from you saying they can release it.
They should also stand with the crew while it's photographed before wrapping. Ask them to send you the pictures straight away. Those are what you'll compare the bike against when it arrives at your township gate.
If the bike has been in another city where you were posted, in a rented flat's parking or a colleague's building, the same applies. Somebody has to be there with the key and the papers on the day.
Arriving at a Phase 1 township
Some of the gated communities in Phase 1 are small towns in their own right, with security that logs every vehicle in and out. A carrier arriving with a bike for a resident who only moved in last week can get held at the barrier while someone checks. Register the bike with your facility office before it arrives, give them the registration number and the expected day, and ask where they'll want the carrier to stop.
Carriers don't drive down into basements, and in the bigger townships the walk from the gate to your tower can be long. The bike comes off at the gate or a visitor bay and is ridden or pushed from there, so make sure there's some fuel for it, since the tank was emptied before loading.
If your new flat's parking slot hasn't been allotted yet, find out where two-wheelers go in the meantime. In a township that size it's better to ask the office than to guess.
Scooter shifting back to E-City
A scooter left behind for a year has usually had a quieter time than a motorcycle, which means a flatter battery and softer tyres. Same advice, ask someone at the other end to check it rolls. Once it's in the crew's hands it's handled like a motorbike, photographed, padded where it's exposed, wrapped and secured upright, and it generally costs a little less than a motorcycle.
Ask whoever's handing it over to empty the under-seat storage. A year's worth of somebody else's shopping receipts is not what you want to find on your first ride to the office.
Bike and two wheeler transport into Electronic City
Most returning bikes come from Chennai, Hyderabad or Kerala, and all three have carriers running often. From a smaller town it can be a longer wait before a vehicle is heading this way, and we'll tell you that at the quote. Either way the delivery date is agreed with you before the bike leaves.
Coming in, the carrier uses the elevated expressway where it can and avoids the Hosur Road crawl below at the office peaks. A late morning or weekend delivery to a Phase 1 township is usually smoother than a weekday evening.
The price is settled after a free survey, which can be a video call with whoever has the bike, and it comes as a single firm figure with GST on the invoice. If you're moving a household back in as well, the Electronic City Phase 1 packers page covers that.

Bike and Scooty Shifting in Electronic City Phase 1, answered
That depends mostly on where it's coming from. We do a free survey, often by video with whoever has the bike, then give one firm price with GST.
Yes. It needs to roll and steer, that's all. Let us know so the crew comes ready to push it.
The key, photocopies of the RC and your ID, and a short signed note from you letting them release it.
Yes, Kerala's cities have regular carriers. Smaller towns can take a little longer to arrange.
Yes. A scooter gets the same care as a motorcycle and is usually a little cheaper to send.
It will if you register the bike with the facility office beforehand. Give them the number and the day.
Not for the move. But renew it before you ride, ideally before the bike arrives.
Near the main gate or wherever the facility office says. The carrier won't drive down to the basement, so keep a little fuel handy.
Yes. Ask whoever hands it over to send you the pickup photos the same day.
Late morning or a weekend, away from the Hosur Road peaks.
Yes, it can ride with the household load and appear as an extra line on that quote.
Pump them up before pickup if you can. If not, tell us and the crew will plan to push rather than ride.
