Bike Shifting in Jigani
Jigani in the hot months is dusty, bright and loud with factory traffic from early on. The service lanes take a pounding from heavy trucks, the afternoon sun bakes everything parked in the open, and by midday nobody wants to be wheeling a bike down a lane with no shade.

So a summer bike pickup here is an early one. It's easier on the crew, easier on the bike, and it gets the carrier out onto the main road before the commuter and heavy-vehicle traffic settles in for the day.
Why the morning is better
A bike that's been parked in the sun is hot to touch, and a dark seat or a black tank can be properly uncomfortable by early afternoon. Wrapping a bike in that state is fine, but it's slower, and the crew works better in the cooler hours.
The bigger reason is the traffic. Factory shifts and goods vehicles fill the roads around the industrial estates, and a carrier trying to leave Jigani in the middle of the day joins a long line of trucks heading for Hosur Road or Bannerghatta Road. An early pickup is out before that.
If you can only manage a later time, late afternoon is the next best, once the worst of the heat has gone out of the day. The light is still good for the condition photos and the heat has eased a little.
Dust, and the pickup photos
The dust in Jigani settles on everything. A bike parked outside for a week is coated in a fine layer that hides scratches and makes the paint look duller than it is. That matters, because the photos taken at pickup are the record of the bike's condition, and a dusty bike photographs badly.
Give it a quick wash or at least a wipe down the day before, and let it dry properly in the evening sun. Nothing elaborate, a bucket and a cloth. It makes the pickup photos far more useful if you ever need to compare them with the bike at delivery.
Dust also gets into chains. If yours has gone dry and gritty, a little cleaning and lubrication before the move is a kindness to the bike, though not essential.
Park it in the shade the night before if you can. A cover helps too, and keeps the dust off once it's been cleaned.
Getting out of Jigani's lanes
The newer residential layouts around the industrial estates have reasonable roads, and the carrier can usually come close. On the older service lanes, rutted by the trucks, it waits on firmer ground nearby and the bike is ridden or pushed out to it. In summer those lanes are bone dry and dusty rather than muddy, which at least makes the push easier.
Houses here usually have space in front for a bike, which helps. If yours lives inside the compound behind a gate, make sure the gate is open and the way out is clear when the crew arrives, a few minutes saved standing in the sun.
Tell us if you work at one of the factories nearby and what your shift timings are. Pickups can be fitted around them, and the crew will also know which hours the local roads fill with shift-change traffic.
Jigani is a long way from most of the city, and there are fewer crews out here than in the inner belt. So give us a bit more notice than you would for a pickup in town, especially for a summer weekend.
Scooty shifting in the heat
Scooters with plastic body panels don't love long hours in the Jigani sun. A dark seat gets hot enough to be uncomfortable, and panels that have faded unevenly are easier to see on a clean scooter than a dusty one. Keep it shaded for a day or two before the pickup if you can, under a tree, a carport or a cover.
Check the tyres too. Pressure creeps up in the heat of the afternoon and drops overnight, and a soft tyre is harder work on a rutted service lane. A quick top-up at the fuel station the day before is enough.
On the carrier the scooter is protected like a motorcycle. After the photos, foam goes over the bar ends and mirror stems, then several turns of wrap, then straps to hold it upright, and being lighter it usually costs a bit less.
Empty the storage under the seat. Anything plastic left in there through a hot week, a water bottle or a rain cover, isn't going to be in good shape.
Bike and two wheeler transport from Jigani
Trips south start well from here. The carrier joins the highway towards Hosur, Krishnagiri and Chennai without having to cross Bangalore. Hyderabad and Kerala are regular runs too. If home is a smaller town, the bike may wait until a vehicle is going that way, and we'll tell you so when we quote.
Into the city, it's a long drive up Hosur Road or Bannerghatta Road, which is one more reason for an early start in the hot months. Within the south, to Electronic City, Anekal or Bommasandra, it's a short trip and done in a day.
On any route the tank gets drained before loading, so ride it low. A photocopy of the RC and one of your ID card are all the crew carries. We'll look at the bike first, free, and put a price in writing with GST that doesn't change. For the household side of a move out of Jigani, see the packers page for the area.

The bike can ride on the same vehicle as your household and go on the same quote. The Jigani moving page covers the rest of the move.

Bike and Scooty Shifting in Jigani, answered
Where it's going sets most of it, and a run into the city from this far south costs more than a hop to Electronic City. Free survey, then a written figure with GST.
Early morning, before the heat and the factory traffic. Late afternoon is the next best.
Yes, if you can. Dust hides scratches and makes the condition photos less useful.
It's wrapped and strapped in a closed carrier. Keeping it shaded before pickup helps too.
Yes. Keep the scooter in the shade before pickup, its plastic panels will thank you. It's usually a little cheaper than a motorcycle.
If it can't, it waits on firmer ground nearby and the bike is ridden or pushed out.
Yes. The carrier is on the highway south without crossing the city, and Chennai sees vehicles often.
Yes. Tell us your timings when you book.
It's a long drive, which is why an early start is important.
Not for the move. But if it's dry and gritty from the dust, a quick clean helps the bike.
More than for an inner-city pickup. Crews are thinner on the ground out here, and weekends go first.
Let it dry after washing. Wash it the day before so it's dry by the morning of the pickup.
