Driven transfer: the usual answer

If the car runs, the simplest solution is a short drive. The carrier stands on a wider road, often the Ring Road side, Kanakapura Road or one of the main roads through the later stages, and the car is driven from your gate to meet it.

You can drive it yourself, or hand the keys to one of our team. Most owners of long-kept family cars prefer to drive it the last few hundred metres themselves, and that's entirely fine. The condition check, photos of every side and the odometer, is done at your gate before the car leaves, so even the short drive is on record.

We fix the loading point during the survey. Film your gate, the lane outside and the closest main road on your phone, and send it over, and the choice usually takes minutes.

The driven transfer is priced into the survey quote. Nothing gets added on the day because the street was narrow.

Single-car trailer: when the car won't drive

A car that doesn't start can't be driven to the carrier, and a carrier that can't reach the gate can't winch it aboard. That's when a single-car trailer comes in. It's much shorter and narrower than a car carrier, so it can get down cross streets that a carrier can't.

The car is winched onto the trailer at your gate, taken to where the carrier is waiting, and transferred. It takes longer and needs more equipment, which is why we need to know at booking if the car won't run.

Tell us honestly. Does it start? Does it roll? Are the tyres up? Does the steering turn, and is the key available? Each answer changes the plan slightly.

The trailer is priced at the survey too. It's an honest fallback for the tightest streets, and you'll know its cost before booking.

In the very narrowest conservancy lanes, even a trailer can struggle. If your gate opens onto one of those, the survey will say what's possible before you book anything.

Timing in Banashankari

Once a car is loaded, the Ring Road and Kanakapura Road frame the area well, and a carrier moves out without much trouble. The pressure points are the temple junction and the Kathriguppe main road at the peaks.

Mornings before about half past eight stay comfortable, and that's when the loading happens.

It also helps to warn the neighbours on your cross street. A car being driven out early, or a trailer reversing in, is a brief disruption on a street where everyone knows everyone, and a word the evening before keeps it friendly. A carrier waiting on a main road early is barely noticed. Later, it gets in everyone's way.

Festival days around the temple are worth avoiding altogether, and so are the weekly days when the temple draws its biggest crowds. The roads near it fill with devotees and stalls, and nothing long moves easily.

If you're in one of the newer complexes in the later stages, the access is usually better, with a gate where the carrier can stand. The society will want the carrier's details in advance.

Preparing a long-kept family car

A lot of Banashankari cars have been with the family for years, sometimes the car a parent bought and drove to the temple every week. Before the day, let the tank run low, take everything out of the seats, the boot and the glovebox's decades of receipts, and lock it.

The crew takes one key. Keep the other one at home. If the spare went missing long ago, this is a good moment to have one cut.

When the RC shows a parent and the car is going to their child elsewhere, the parent writes and signs a short letter allowing it, and copies of the registration and that parent's ID card ride along. Originals remain at home.

If it's been parked a long time, check the insurance before anyone plans to drive it at the other end.

Older cars sometimes carry things nobody remembers putting there, a puja item on the dashboard, a garland on the mirror, a set of brass keys in the door pocket. Take them out and keep them with the family's things. They matter more than the car does to some people.
