Car Transport Services in BTM Layout
BTM Layout has a busy second-hand car market, private sellers in the apartment blocks, people leaving the city in a hurry, and a steady flow of cars changing hands among the families who've lived here for years. Plenty of those cars are fine to drive away. Some aren't.

InstantWhere are you moving?
Costs you nothing and there's no salesperson at the end of it.
A car that's been standing for months, one with a doubtful clutch, or one whose seller swears it's fine but you'd rather not find out on Silk Board, is better carried to your mechanic than driven there. That's a short job on a carrier, and it means the first time the car moves under its own power is after someone qualified has looked at it.
Why not just drive it?
Sometimes you should. A recently serviced car with clean papers and a seller who drove it to the viewing is usually fine for a short drive.
But a car that hasn't moved in a year has old fuel, tyres that may have flat-spotted and brakes that could be seized. A car with an expired insurance policy can't legally be driven at all until it's renewed. And a car you've just bought is one you don't yet know.
Carrying it removes all of that. The car goes up the ramps at the seller's building and comes down at your mechanic's or your own gate, without turning a wheel on the road in between.
It's also the simplest answer when the buyer doesn't drive, or lives in another city and has bought the car over a video call.
And it settles an awkward question between buyer and seller. If something fails on the drive home, whose problem is it? Carried to a mechanic, the car is inspected in the condition it was sold in, with photos from the handover to show it.
There's a quieter benefit too. A car delivered straight to a workshop gets inspected before anyone is attached to it. If the mechanic finds something serious, you find out before the first long drive rather than during it.
Sorting the paperwork first
Before the car moves, the sale should be done. Payment made, a sale agreement signed by both of you, and the ownership transfer started with the transport department. That transfer is between buyer and seller, and it's easiest while you're both in Bangalore.
For the carrier, we need photocopies of three things, the registration, the seller's ID and yours, plus the sale paperwork. Those go in an envelope with the car.
Check the insurance. If it's lapsed or in the seller's name, sort it out before anyone drives the car on the road. For a carried car it's less urgent, but your mechanic will want to test-drive it.
Keep the original RC, the service records and any spare keys together, and make sure you have them before the seller hands over the car. A used car that arrives without its spare key, its service book or its warranty papers is worth less than one that comes with all three.
Collecting from a BTM building
BTM is dense, with PGs, cross roads lined with parked cars and Silk Board on its doorstep, and a seller's building there rarely has room for anything long outside. A car carrier can't turn in most of the cross roads, so we agree a loading point on a wider road near the lake or a main road, and one of our crew drives the car there if it runs.
If it doesn't run, a winch pulls it aboard wherever the carrier can get to, or a single-car trailer handles it if that's all the street allows. Tell us at booking, as it changes the equipment we send.
The car is photographed on every side and the odometer recorded before it's loaded. For a used car, those photos are also a useful record of the condition you bought it in.
Early mornings are the time, ahead of the Silk Board queue and the parked cars that line the cross roads by nine.
Where the car is going
Most second-hand cars bought in BTM go somewhere within Bangalore, rarely far, to a mechanic the buyer trusts, or home to a flat in Koramangala, HSR or JP Nagar. Those are same-day jobs, priced as short ones, and they make up most of what BTM buyers ask us to carry.
If you're taking it to a workshop, tell them it's arriving on a carrier and ask where it can be unloaded. Workshops are often on busy roads with no room for a long vehicle.
Book the workshop slot before the car moves, too. A car delivered to a garage that has no space for it for a week ends up parked on the street outside, which defeats the point of carrying it there.
Some buyers live in another city, having found the car through a listing and checked it over a video call with a mechanic friend. Then it's an intercity move like any other, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai or further, priced on the route, the carrier type and the car's size, with a realistic delivery window.
Car transport from BTM Layout to other cities
For cars leaving Bangalore from BTM, the carrier's first job is Silk Board, and nothing else in the trip is as slow. An early start gets it past the junction before the office traffic, whichever direction it's going.
On the journey the car sits in a closed carrier, tied down at each tyre. Hand it over with little fuel, nothing loose inside and the doors locked.
Sharing a carrier with other cars keeps the cost down. Booking one just for your car, on your date, costs more. Either way the price comes after a free survey, in writing with GST, and you can add transit insurance on the value you declare. For a household moving at the same time, see the BTM Layout packers page.
