Bike Shifting in Horamavu
A lot of people moving to Horamavu arrive in stages. One person comes first for a new job near Manyata or the ORR offices, takes the keys to a flat in one of the new projects, and the rest of the household follows when the school term or the old lease allows. In that first fortnight, the thing that makes life workable is having the bike.

So the bike goes ahead. It arrives before the furniture, sometimes before the person, and is waiting in the basement when they need it. It's a small decision that changes how the first weeks feel, and it's very easy to arrange if you plan for it.
Why send the bike first
Horamavu's public transport is getting better, but for most people living here the bike is still how they get to work, to the shops and to the metro. Arriving without it means cabs, autos and asking colleagues for lifts at exactly the time you're trying to make a good first impression.
It also helps you learn the area. The first weekend with a bike in a new part of the city, you find the shortcut to the ORR, the vegetable market, the mechanic, the petrol pump that isn't always queued. Without it you're dependent on whatever the cab app suggests.
Sending it ahead also takes one more thing off the main moving day. The household truck has less to think about, and the bike isn't one more item to fit in at the end.
If the move is coming from another city, the bike can travel on its own a week or so before the household, and we'll commit to its delivery day before loading.
Who receives it if you're not there yet
If the bike arrives before you do, someone has to take it in. A colleague, a relative in Bangalore, a friend who lives nearby, or in a new project sometimes the facility staff, if they're willing and you've arranged it in writing. Share their contact when you book.
If nobody you know is in Bangalore yet, talk to us. Storing the bike for a few days until you've landed is an option, and it's better than asking a security guard you've never met to take responsibility for it.
That person checks the bike against the pickup photos, signs for it and parks it where you've told them. In a new Horamavu tower that's worth confirming carefully. Basements in buildings that are still filling up don't always have bays allotted, and a bike left in the wrong spot can end up being moved around by security.
Keep the spare key yourself. The receiver holds the one the crew hands over.
New towers, half-finished roads
Horamavu is still filling in, and some of the approach roads into the newer layouts aren't finished. A few are gravel and mud, and after a wet week they're the kind of road a carrier shouldn't attempt. In those cases it stops on the tarred stretch and the bike is walked the rest of the way to your building.
Inside new projects like Kolte Patil Mirabilis, Purva Oakshire or Prestige Gulmohar, the association's move-in rules are often new too. Ask the office whether a bike delivery needs to be logged, and whether the basement gate is open at the hour we're coming.
Ask about the basement lights as well. In a tower that's only partly occupied, some levels stay dark to save power, and a receiver trying to park a bike at night in an unlit basement is not a good start. A daytime delivery avoids the problem altogether.
The ORR and Hennur Road clog at office peaks. Morning deliveries are planned to land before that, or after the morning wave has passed.
Scooter shifting ahead of the family
Sometimes it's the scooter that goes first, for a parent who'll be doing the school and grocery runs in the new area. It's handled the same as a motorcycle on the vehicle, padding on the mirrors and handlebar, layers of wrap, upright and strapped in its own space, and usually costs slightly less.
A scooter that arrives early is also handy for the move itself. Someone in the family can run to the hardware shop, pick up the curtain rods, fetch lunch, all the small errands that fill the first days in a new flat.
If two bikes are coming at different times, one ahead and one with the household, they're two bookings on one quote. Each gets its own condition photos.
Bike and two wheeler transport into and out of Horamavu
Most bikes we bring to Horamavu come from Chennai, Hyderabad or a home town in Kerala, and most bikes we take away go back along the same routes when the next job comes up. From the north-east the carrier reaches the highways without crossing the city.
For the trip, the bike carries photocopies of its RC and the owner's ID, and travels with the tank drained. The originals stay with whoever is travelling. Smaller home towns may mean a longer wait for a vehicle going that way, and we'll be clear about that from the start.
The figure for the bike, sent ahead or with everyone, comes after a free survey and in writing with GST. The household move itself is covered on our Horamavu packers page, and both can go on one invoice even when they travel on different days.
